Construction underway on 345 Salford homes

Bellway is on track to open show homes this summer for its neighbourhood on the site of the former Brackley Golf Course in Little Hulton, with the first occupants set to move in later that season.

The housebuilder is constructing a series of apartments, semi-detached, and detached houses on the plot, which has been named The Putting Green. With between two and four bedrooms, these properties are aimed at a wide range of residents including first-time buyers.

Bellway acquired The Putting Green’s 63-acre site off Manchester Road for £40m in 2021. The housebuilder joined up with Countryside to secure planning permission last summer from Salford City Council for the project, which will total 690 homes when complete. Countryside is building the other 345 homes.

The consented plans call for Bellway’s 345-home portion to include 62 four-bed homes, 222 three-bed ones, and 61 two-bed homes. Prices for the homes begin at £293,995. There were no affordable homes included in Bellway’s scheme.

As part of its planning permission, Bellway has committed more than £5m towards the community, including £2.6m for public open space, £1.5m for education, and £750,000 for the Amblecoats Playing Field.

Grace Yarlett, sales director at Bellway, gave a construction update for the project.

“Construction is going well and The Putting Green at Brackley Village is really starting to take shape,” she said.

“It is a fantastic development with a great selection of two-, three- and four-bedroom homes available. We are confident it will appeal to homebuyers and demand will be high for the properties.”

At a starting price of just under 300k for a 3 bed semi in Little Hulton on a site that is surrounded by a council estate and a motorway, I somehow doubt it.

Let’s hope there will be more Doctors and schools and road improvements for this run down area and educate the children and youths not to litter and destroy what they have got or these new estates will soon look run down as well

Can this be right, no affordable homes in little Hulton? What about our young people trying to make a start in life?

No dentist available, long wait for doctors appointment, and fly tipping problem! Hmmm.
