Thomas Barnes recruits marketing team

Bury-based construction firm Thomas Barnes & Sons has appointed a new marketing team at its head office.

Andrew Field is leading the team as senior business development manager. Field has worked in the construction industry for 16 years and joins from consultancy Glovers Project Services. His earlier career was spent in construction recruitment with stints at Hays, Capita, Building Recruitment Company and Peritas Consulting.

Joining Field as business development managers are Caroline Cowburn and Sue Cooper. Cowburn joins Thomas Barnes from Morrison Facilities where she supported the Manchester office in preparation of bids. Cooper was previously at Space Architects having spent the earlier part of her career with quantity surveyors Gleeds and architects Pickard Finlason.

The team are replacing Chris Snow and Karen Thornhill, who were appointed senior business development manager and business development manager respectively in November last year.

Field said: "I am thrilled to be working with Brian Barnes and the directors as we consolidate our enviable experience in the health, education and government sectors whilst reminding clients we have delivered hundreds of millions of pounds worth of private sector buildings. It is rare for a company of our size to have three active business development managers, but shows that Thomas Barnes & Sons are willing to invest in the front end work that needs to be done for us to achieve our ambitious goals."

Founded in 1975, Thomas Barnes & Sons is a £25m turnover building contractor trading from offices in Bury, Sefton, Newcastle and Birmingham.

Current clients include Stockport Council, Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust, Oldham Council, Myerscough College, University of Chester, Salvation Army Housing Association and Christie NHS Foundation Trust.
