Taylor Wimpey gets go-ahead in Warrington
The national housebuilder has received planning permission for 180 homes at Aldon Wood in Great Sankey next to Omega South.
The provision includes a mix of three and four-bedroom homes, of which 20% are set aside for three-bedroom starter homes for first-time buyers.
Ian Harrison, land and planning director at Taylor Wimpey North West, said: “Our new development in Great Sankey will provide much-needed homes and investment for Omega South.
“We have worked hard to ensure that our proposal reflects the needs of the local area, with careful consideration taken on the design and layout of the development.”
Progress Planning Consultancy worked on the scheme.
Outline plans have also been submitted by Omega for 617 homes north of Taylor Wimpey’s application. Of the total, 317 of the homes had prior planning consent as part of the Omega Warrington masterplan. An additional 300 units are now proposed in revisions that will also see plans for offices on the site scrapped.
Another two parcels of land to the south of Omega Warrington are being developed by Redrow and Miller Homes.
Omega is being delivered by a joint venture between Miller Developments and KUC Properties, in partnership with landowner Homes England and supported by Warrington Council and the Cheshire & Warrington LEP.
So sad, yet more land being given up to development which is surplus to requirements. More devastation to our wildlife and environment and a knock on effect to our already over-subscribed schools, doctors and dentists. ‘Much needs homes’ , hardly- you only have to look in the papers and on-line to see 100s of homes for sale in Warrington to know this development is nothing more than another cash cow for the Council.

Why is not more roads being built in Warrington it is a nightmare getting around at peak times I:e mornings going to work and coming home. We do not need any more house.

Great to see more cookie cutter housing built. Great to see Warrington council being forward thinking developing modern, fit for purpose housing estates. Great to see details on how affordable the affordable element is in this area of high prices. And it looks like this development is going to fit in with reducing car use just as much as all the other developments in the omega area.

Stop enough is enough are you including schools doctors etc for the new development. The roads are chocker as it is. Has anyone at Warrington council took the trouble to watch all the traffic in this area when all the new warehouses finish for the day.. its rediculous.

Dear god this site is becoming like a nimby forum. The majority of Warrington residents are living in houses that even 50 years ago were fields, the Omega area is brownfield having been an airbase covering a vast area, its not the pristine wilderness of the amazon basin.
This is EXACTLY the sort of site that should be developed for housing, close to the motorway, two railway stations and local amenities. Just need to make sure the LA enforce a decent percentage of affordable homes.

Do people just recycle comments on this Website? Looks like you’ve all copied and pasted from the articles regarding new housing in Wigan or new houses in Poynton. What about the wildlife? It’s a brownfield site so this is suitable for new development rather than using the green belt. I thought this place was for property professionals with a certain degree of knowledge and expertise but judging by the comments here I must be mistaken, feel like i’m in the comments section of The S*n.

It’s weird how these “utterly grim” estates manage to get sold to people, who then continue to live in these ‘depressing boxes’, whilst managing to eek out an existence in these secluded estates! I guess they bribe the customers who give them 5 star feedback too, with the same money they use for ‘bungs’ for planning permissions. Blah Blah Blah…..
