Crossfield submits Telegraph House plans
The Liverpool-based developer has lodged an application to transform the retail and office building in Crosby town centre into a mixed-use scheme featuring 74 apartments and other elements.
Crossfield Exclusive Developments revealed its proposals for the 18,700 sq ft Telegraph House on Moor Lane last June and has now applied for planning permission for the scheme from Sefton Council.
The mixed-use redevelopment would comprise 11,000 sq ft of retail and commercial space on the ground floor and 74 residential units on the upper floors with rooftop gardens for residents. It has been designed by Liverpool-based architecture firm Studio RBA.
The aim of the redevelopment is to contribute to Crosby’s amenities – including providing accessible homes on a previously developed site – and increase footfall to Crosby Village by transforming Moor Lane into a “vibrant gateway to the town centre”, Crossfield said.
The developer bought Telegraph House from regeneration company St Modwen last May for £1m. If planning consent is granted, work will start on site this summer carried out by Crossfield Construction, part of Crossfield Group.
David Cain, managing director of Crossfield Exclusive Developments, said: “I grew up in Crosby and so this development is really important to me personally. The town needs and deserves investment and, like all communities, it has suffered through the challenges of the past 12 months.
“We have worked closely with our design partners at RBA and our planning consultants at Savills to create a vision for Telegraph House that gives the town exactly what it needs – high quality homes and new retail facilities that will create new employment for local people.
“Not only will it bring to life a currently derelict brownfield site, it will also bring with it well-designed town centre regeneration that will help to revive Crosby.”
Crossfield Group is also delivering the £3.1m extension to Crosby Lakeside Adventure Centre on behalf of Sefton Council, having been appointed as the main contractor in February. The project is to deliver new hospitality and event facilities, reception areas, sleeping accommodation and upgrades to the mechanical and electrical services.
Crosby has a lot going for it , schools , a good number of bars, restaurants etc , plus train transport resources ,and the beach and seafront, however the town centre always seemed a bit dated and underwhelming over recent years.
Schemes like this can move things forward and bring a better buzz and aesthetic to this area, and neighbouring Waterloo.

This looks like a well put together scheme for the local community of Crosby, allowing residents to set down roots as spend money and invest in the local area.
The addition of new business & employment will be much welcomed to fellow residence help inject some more life into the dwindling highstreet! Hopefully this sparks more investment and opportunities in the area.
