BCSC picks Manchester for 2009 Northern conference

The British Council of Shopping Centres will make it four conferences held in the North West in less than a year when it holds the 13th Annual Northern Region Shopping Centre Management Conference in Manchester next June.

The event will take place from Wednesday 10 to Friday 12 June at the Marriott Worsley Park Hotel, Manchester.

The event programme will explore the question of whether 'Communities are what matter to customers'.

This year's annual national conference took place in Liverpool at the new Arena and Convention Centre in November and the venue will also host next spring's national management conference. November 2009 will see the annual conference return to Manchester Central where it has been several times before.

Of the northern event's programme BCSC's marketing material said: "In today's economic climate, it's essential that centres maintain an awareness of their surrounding communities – understanding shopper behaviour, creating regional differentiation and building retail destinations that engage customers.

"We will also explore solutions to meet the consumer's need for both products and services, maximising the impact of word-of-mouth and relationship marketing, empowering, consumers as well as engaging and entertaining them. We'll help you develop a unique, customer-focused experience fundamental to retaining the long-lasting customer loyalty that will generate added investment."

  • Full details of the event programme will be available in March. To discuss sponsorship, please contact Erin Rigg, BCSC Events on 0207 227 3459 or at erin.rigg@bcsc.org.uk.
