MIPIM VIDEO | Rochdale: reinventing the industrial revolution

Paul Ormerod, chairman of the Rochdale Development Agency, and Andrew Russell, founder of North West property and construction group Russells, came together to discuss how a public-private partnership is proving a vital catalyst for the borough’s regeneration and long-term vision.

In a conversation with Place North West editor Julia Hatmaker, the pair talked about the overarching goals for Rochdale’s future and how game-changing industrial developments like the recently launched 1.5m sq ft HPARK are delivering real change on the ground.

Ormerod set out the vision for Rochdale and Atom Valley, stressing the importance of working with development partners and demonstrating delivery on the ground to future investors.

Russell outlined the South Heywood Masterplan and the opportunity provided by the HPARK employment zone, which is attracting new investment and creating up to 2,400 new jobs.

They discussed how the masterplan is helping the borough deliver on its strategic ambitions – economic regeneration, infrastructure improvement, provision of community resources, population retention and sustainable development – thanks to a strong working partnership.

The Rochdale Development Agency is at MIPIM together with various development partners to promote the borough and the opportunities available for investment.
