Watson brings forward Bolton affordable homes
Working with two registered providers and with backing from Homes England, the housebuilder has put in plans for 118 affordable homes on Chorley Street, next to Queen’s Park.
There will be a mix of tenures delivered on the site, including 17 two, three, and four-bed homes for shared ownership. The remainder of the homes are apartments, split across three blocks ranging from five to six storeys. TADW is the architect.
One of the blocks includes 25 units for the over-50s; another has 36 for affordable rent; while the largest block has 40 apartments intended for rent-to-buy tenants.
Ownership of the scheme will be split between two registered providers, Bolton at Home and Irwell Valley Homes, while the scheme has also secured funding from Homes England.
Access to the site will be via Chorley Street with 62 car parking spaces provided for the apartments along with 31 for the houses.
Rob Watson, director at Watson Homes, said: “Working closely with Bolton at Home and Irwell Valley Homes, we are confident our vision for this development meets the town’s demand for high quality accommodation and will create a new standard of affordable living in a prime, central location.”
Dominic Conway, director of development and growth at Bolton at Home, said: “This is a hugely positive development for Bolton as it brings back into use a derelict site. The other great thing about the scheme is that it’s providing a mix of housing types and tenures to meet local demand for affordable housing.”
