PLANNING | Approval nears for 1,000 Liverpool flats
Liverpool City Council’s December planning committee is due to meet next Tuesday, earmarking three residential schemes across the city for consent which would deliver almost 1,000 homes for students and private rent.
21 Strand Street
Developer: Patten Properties and Panacea Property Development
Architect: Leach Rhodes Walker
Apartments: 383
Amenities: Resident’s gym, cinema, roof terrace, ground floor commercial units
Background: Revised from earlier plans for a part-25 storey project after a public consultation
33 Devon Street
Developer: Yu Property Group
Architect: Smith Young
Flats: 162 studios for students
Swainbanks, Fox Street
Developer: Primesite Developments
Architect: KDP
Flats: 400, with 54 studios in former Swainbanks warehouse, and 346 across three new-build blocks
Background: Revision of application first submitted in 2014, which totaled 506 studios, and included basement parking
The Strand buildings fit well next to Pirelli’s 1 Park West; the other schemes are solid, but good to see development around Islington towards Everton.
