      Roles and Responsibilities

      As the Principal Structural Engineer in Bangor, you will lead the design process from concept to completion on projects of all sizes, working independently on smaller projects and as part of a team on more significant schemes. Your duties will include: 

      • Undertaking structural design calculations in a variety of materials including steel, concrete, timber and masonry in accordance with British Standards / Euro Codes to deliver projects for clients
      • Managing design projects of all sizes including commercial delivery of projects, ensuring timescales and budgets are met
      • Implementing internal QMS procedures and ensuring all designs comply with our internal checking protocols
      • Liaising with clients and the design team to ensure designs meet briefs and attending design team meetings / site meetings as required
      • Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, including contractors and colleagues based at other office locations. 
      • Leading structural inspection projects
      • Inputting into the preparation of fee proposals and developing associated design scopes
      • Pursuing new business opportunities
      • Mentoring less experienced Engineers

      Skills & knowledge requirements 

      • Proficient in the use of design software such as Tekla Tedds and CADS
      • Excellent knowledge of all relevant British Standards and design codes 
      • Strong understanding of engineering principles
      • Good awareness of all commercial aspects of projects
      • Excellent IT skills, with a basic understanding of AutoCAD and Word
      • Ability to lead a team of Engineers and Technicians
      • Excellent organisational, planning and time management skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously
      • Enthusiastic and self-motivated, with the ability to work on your own initiative
      • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
      • Full UK driving licence

      Qualifications 

      • Degree in relevant Engineering subject
      • Minimum of 7 years’ experience working in similar engineering consultancy
      • Chartered member of IStructE/ICE preferable
