Location: FireFit Hub, 115 Upper Warwick St, Toxteth, Liverpool, L8 8HD

Support young people across Liverpool with the Retro Sports Day (Property and Construction, Liverpool City Region)

19 May 2022

Kindly sponsored by Steven Hunt and Associates, Sutcliffes, Markhams, Paddock Johnson and Accountable Recruitment

Join us for an action-packed afternoon to compete against fellow property and construction firms to win the Retro Sports Day Trophy.

Think classic school sports day with some twists to keep things interesting. Think sack races, obstacle courses, a relay race and a brutal three-legged battle to the finish line

All money raised will be used to support FireFit Youth and Community Hub, part of Torus Foundation.

Torus Foundation is the charitable arm of growth and regeneration group, Torus. Our vision is one of growing communities, places where people have access to the best life chances and opportunities to learn and earn. The Foundation works with communities and key partners to deliver a varied programme of support for Torus tenants, residents and many living in the wider community.

The team is on hand to get people back into work, build skills, look at ways of managing money, and empower young people and the wider community to improve their health and wellbeing. The Foundation’s core purpose of standing for stronger communities has never been more relevant. Working alongside some of the country’s most disadvantaged neighbourhoods, the global pandemic has only worsened some of the inequalities that exist within them.

However, against this challenging operational backdrop, Torus Foundation has managed to deliver on the mandate: to provide essential services that directly support communities across Liverpool, St Helens and Warrington, to break down barriers and unlock opportunities.

Torus Foundation is focused on creating sustainable partnerships with people and places to create a platform for lasting change, working with a wide range of stakeholders to deliver services that foster stronger communities and promote better life chances for local people.

FireFit Youth and Community Hub is the cornerstone of Torus Foundation. Services are designed in collaboration with our members and partners, ensuring the facility inspires and empowers members and the broader community to reach their full potential.

A key stakeholder and pillar in the South Liverpool community, FireFit is a place where young people feel safe and secure, have a sense of belonging, feel trusted, respected and listened to, and do not feel judged. During 2020-2021 almost 6,000 people visited FireFit to take part in sporting activities and youth services. FireFit operates 7 days a week serving over 900 members.

Funds raised at this event will directly support young people to undertake their Duke of Edinburgh Award. A process which is often expensive and inaccessible for many but can be a hugely positive achievement that everyone should experience.

In addition, funds will be used to support the growing provision for young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) delivered at FireFit, which will include delivery of activities, sourcing specialist equipment and supporting young people with additional needs to transition into mainstream youth services.

This event will be fun and a great way to bond with your colleagues and network with fellow property and construction businesses all while raising money for a fantastic cause.
