Spaceshaper is a practical toolkit for use by anyone – whether a local community group or a professional – to measure the quality of a public space before investing time and money in improving it. The toolkit works by capturing the perceptions of both professionals involved in running a space and its users. The results are discussed during a facilitated workshop which aims to debate issues of design quality and build a better understanding about how the space works for the different stakeholders. If you are interested in becoming a Spaceshaper facilitator, you will need to attend a taster session first. Date: 17 September 2007 Venue: The Centre for the Urban Built Environment 113-115 Portland Street, Manchester M1 6DW 10.30am – 12.30pm The Spaceshaper taster session will explain how the tool works and gives participants an opportunity to use the toolkit for themselves in a local outdoor space.
