Place and Manchester Science Parks are co-hosting a half-day conference sponsored by Wates on the afternoon of 3 March to examine the importance of the knowledge economy to Manchester and how the city's knowledge assets can be fully exploited to drive growth.
Speakers will include Jane Davies, chief executive of Manchester Science Parks, and Prof Huw Morris, pro vice-chancellor academic and Dean of the College of Arts & Social Sciences at Salford University.
The keynote presentations will be followed by roundtable discussions on distinct themes and a panel debate to conclude.
Topics that will be explored at the event include the future of research budgets at universities in the austerity era, graduate retention and supply into the labour market and how the city is creating a quality physical environment for knowledge, science and innovation.
The event will take place from 1:30pm to 5pm on 3 March at One Central Park.
