To mark the launch of the second phase of homes at Avro in Manchester this month, award winning regeneration company Urban Splash has announced it will host a special event at Manchester’s Museum of Science and Industry.

The first 15 loft style apartments within building, which was formerly known as Brownsfield Mill and was home to pioneering Manchester aviation business AV Roe and Company, were launched for sale late last year and sold out in just eight weeks. Now the next wave of homes, including 14 loft apartments – some of which will offer the biggest floorplates in Manchester – as well as a fascinating town house within Avro’s former engine room, will be launched at a dedicated event celebrating the building’s past, present and future.

The event will be held at 6pm on Wednesday 21 February within the museum’s Great Western Warehouse, in which guests can also view a scale replica AV Roe plane; in its shadows a very special panel talk will take place featuring Eric Verdon Roe, who is the grandson of AV Roe, Urban Splash Chairman Tom Bloxham MBE and the architect designing Avro’s new loft apartments – Roger Stephenson.

Speaking ahead of the event, Urban Splash director of residential sales Guy Ackernley said: “Avro holds a special place in our hearts; the original fabric is one we’ve successfully worked with many times in the past and a framework we have come to love. This is an important opportunity for us to get key people on stage who can talk about the heritage, and how that heritage is being evolved into contemporary homes.

“I’m also very excited to unveil the final properties for sale; as with the first phase, these will offer customers some of Manchester’s biggest floorplates with homes in a fantastic location in Piccadilly Basin and the Northern Quarter, surrounded by other Urban Splash developments like New Islington and Beehive Mill.”
