Artificial Intelligence in the Built Environment: Friend or Foe?

Place Event
In association with Morgan Sindall

Date: 24 May 2023, 8:00 - 10:00

Location: The Manufacturing Technology Centre, 131 Mount Pleasant, Liverpool L3 5TF

The use of AI in the construction industry is rapidly increasing, and it has the potential to transform the way we design, build, and operate buildings. However, as with any disruptive technology, there are also concerns about its impact.

Does the advancement of AI technology present an opportunity for the built environment, or a catastrophe? Is Elon Musk right in describing the push for AI as a “dangerous” arms race, or is it a chance to address the skills crisis and construct our buildings more efficiently?

This intimate breakfast event will discuss the potential of AI and robotics, the ways the technology is already being used, and explore the opportunities and challenges that AI brings to the built environment.

Speakers confirmed:

Owen Ashton, regional digital construction manager, Morgan Sindall
Professor Samia Nefti-Meziani, chair in robotics and AI, University of Birmingham
Caro Ames, data science strategy lead, Arup
Steve Nesbitt, chief technologist, Manufacturing Technology Centre
Yazan Qarout, senior research engineer, Manufacturing Technology Centre

The event will consist of keynote speeches and a panel discussion. There will also be opportunities for networking and knowledge sharing, as well as a showcase of the latest AI technologies and solutions for the built environment.

Register your interest by emailing events@placenorthwest.co.uk. Spaces will be limited, and you’ll be notified by the events team if you’ve been allocated a place.

This event is held in association with Morgan Sindall Construction.
