RTPI NW Urban Design: Are we all urban designers now?

Date: 10 November 2016 - 10 November 2016, 9:30 - 4:30

Location: BDP, Manchester M60 3JA

Email: beverley.watson@rtpi.org.uk

Planners are much more confident talking about active frontages, natural surveillance and permeable routes than they were 10 years ago, but does that translate in to better urban design?

This day will focus on examining the latest trends in urban design and how it has suffered, or not, in the recession. We will look at successful schemes where the value of good urban design has been realised through social, economic and environmental benefits. The day will also include examination of historic environments and place making; the value of green infrastructure; the importance of urban design in large scale regeneration; and future-proofing our environments.
