X1 The Gateway tops out

Main contractor Forrest has reached the highest point of construction on the 20-storey, 191-apartment £28m Salford Quays development by developer X1 and its partner Knight Knox.

X1 The Gateway comprises studio to three-bedroom apartments, with amenities including an on-site gymnasium, a management office, cycle storage and car parking for selected units. It sits on Trafford Road close to the Salford Quays tram stop.

The development was launched to the off-plan sales market in February 2016 and sold out in 10 months later, following in the footsteps of the neighbouring X1 The Exchange, which was completed in June 2016 and is reported as fully occupied.

Andy Phillips, commercial director at Knight Knox, said: “We have a big presence in Salford Quays and are delighted to announce the topping out of X1 The Gateway. It will complement our existing developments in the area and bring more high quality accommodation to an area that doesn’t have enough to meet demand.”

Ross Latham, project director at Forrest, added: “Marking the milestone of topping out on this significant scheme is a time for the entire project team to come together and celebrate progress to date.”
