Wrexham to welcome more tourist accommodation
The city has seen a spike in demand for tourist accommodation since the success of the football club under Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney and the accompanying Disney+ documentary series.
The city’s former registry office is to be turned into an aparthotel, while a tweak to planning permission will also enable student flats to be rented out to guests during the summer.
Wrexham Council’s planning department has approved both sets of plans as demand for city centre accommodation hots up.
Aparthotel
The council has also approved plans from the Happy Days Group to create a 13-unit aparthotel at the grade two-listed former registry office off Chester Street, at the heart of Wrexham city centre.
Plans feature a range of one- and two-bed units, including duplex’s, each with a bathroom, and a 12-space car park.
According to the design and access statement the development “will bring a listed building back into use, providing high-quality tourism accommodation and a sense of place close to Wrexham town centre”.
Pegasus Group and Studio 256 are on the project team.

PBSA change of use
Student Roost which operates the private purpose-built student accommodation at Snowdon Hall off Victoria Hill in the city centre have had a bid to tweak the building’s planning permission approved via a non-material amendment.
The building comprised 156 en-suite bedrooms.
A planning statement submitted by Gerald Eve stated that Student Roost wished to improve the commercial viability of the site over the summer to allow short-term lettings for non-students between the start of June and the end of August while students are on vacation.
The accommodation will be marketed to families, couples, and organisational group bookings but will actively deter bookings for large weekend-only groups such as stag and hen parties.

Great news for Wrexham and North Wales. I believe that if North Wales and Northern England worked together, they can enhance the amount of tourists visiting the areas. I think we need to take promoting these places into our hands due to the lack of promoting by the UK’s own tourism boards. For example, Fly direct to Manchester Airport from over 200 airports worldwide to visit North Wales, Liverpool, Lake District etc.

More good news for Wrexham , but they really need to sort out the car parking as it is desperate .
Or improve the train links .
