Wrexham homes make it through appeal
Work on 189 homes in Rhosrobin in Wrexham is due to start next year after Welsh Government housing minister Julie James backed an appeal against the scheme’s earlier rejection.
Developers Welsh Town Planning & Housing Trust and Liberty Properties, advised by Cassidy + Ashton, are now set to deliver the homes on a site to the east of Tan y Bont, off Llay New Road, with a mixture of two, three, four and five-bedroom homes.
A quarter of the 189 proposed houses are classed as affordable. The appeal highlighted the lack of houses being built locally, with Cassidy + Ashton arguing that fewer than half of the 517 new houses a year outlined in Wrexham’s emerging Local Development Plan had been achieved in the last five years.
Work on the new homes is expected to start in 2020 and will take around five years to complete.
The Chester office of Cassidy + Ashton also supported another success appeal, allowing an increase in production at the Maelor Foods poultry processing plant at Cross Lanes, Wrexham, from 400,000 to one million chickens per week.
