Work starts on final phase of stalled Foxhall Village West
Great Places Housing Group is anticipating an August 2025 completion for the delivery of 88 homes on the Blackpool site, four years after the previous developer collapsed and left the project incomplete.
Tyson Construction has started on-site to build the final phase of the Foxhall Village West project, which will create more than 400 homes in total.
Designed by Cassidy + Ashton, this final phase will deliver 85 houses and three apartments.
Located on the 19-acre site bounded by Blundell Street, Tyldesley Road, Rigby Road, and Princess Street, all homes will be affordable.
The scheme was approved last November.
Helen Spencer, executive director of growth at Great Places, said: “Foxhall Village is one of the projects that we’re most proud to have been involved with over the past decade.
“This will not only secure the completion of the West site, but also provide an additional 88 much-needed affordable homes in the local area”, she continued.
“As long-term owners and investors in Foxhall Village, we were committed to working with the council and other local stakeholders to find a solution for this complex and difficult site, while maximising the impact of our investment.”
Great Places submitted the plans for the scheme last June following the collapse of Hollinwood Homes, which appointed administrators in 2019 having completed fewer than half of the 400 homes it proposed at the £50m Foxhall Village.
These plans differ from Hollinwood’s earlier plans for the site, which were for 59 houses and 15 apartments.
Blackpool Council took control of Foxhall Village in 2021 after reaching an agreement with administrator PwC, and has worked with Great Places on the project.
Cllr Mark Smith, Blackpool Council cabinet member, said: “The council has always been determined to see this phase completed and provide a significant number of affordable homes for many people.
“Our close working relationship and partnership with Great Places has helped deliver a really positive outcome for the progression of this Blackpool flagship housing scheme.”
