Work starts on £1m Macclesfield College refurb
Icon Projects has been appointed to carry out work on 6,500 sq ft of space to provide T-Level teaching facilities for childcare and creative media at the Mulberry Building, off Park Lane.
The £1m work covers a full interior refurbishment including full mechanical and electrical upgrades. The contractor started on site this week and expects the work to be completed and ready for the start of the academic term in September.
Craig Shenton, Icon director, said: “Since engaging with Macclesfield College in the early stages of our ongoing apprenticeship programme, it has been a goal at Icon Projects to work at the college to continue the partnership.
“Having met the client team including consultants from Arcadis, Seven Architecture, Waterman Building Services, and Ridge, we are confident this project will be very enjoyable, and we are destined to make a formidable team.”
A spokesperson for Macclesfield College added: “We are incredibly excited about the investment into our T-Levels for childcare and creative media.
“This initiative will create dynamic learning environments that closely reflect real-world workplaces, providing our students with engaging and inspiring experiences. We believe this will significantly enhance their skills and readiness for future careers.”
