Winvic kicks off next phase of Kingsway Business Park
Contractor Winvic has started work on a 75,000 sq ft distribution facility at Kingsway Business Park in Rochdale, set to be home to door and MDF manufacturer Trade Mouldings when it opens next year.
The unit sits on Plot N at the business park and is being delivered on a design-and-build basis for Trade Mouldings, which anticipates to create around 30 new jobs at the site once it completes.
The new facility will allow the company to manufacture more products and offer a showroom and trade counter. Winvic is set to complete the project in autumn next year.
Damien Connolly, director at Trade Mouldings, said the company had opted for a design-and-build facility as it would allow the company room for further expansion if necessary. The company is currently based at Blueberry Business Park, also in Rochdale.
“We wanted a tailor-made solution for our products and a building designed exactly for our needs, with high eaves height, showroom and office space to our requirements and loading bays in the most efficient locations,” he said.
“We also wanted the option of additional land to future proof the business and we have further room for expansion next to the unit we are acquiring at Kingsway.”
Once it completes in next year, Trade Mouldings’ facility will add to the 3.5m sq ft already developed at Kingsway Business Park. East Midlands-based Winvic recently completed an expansion of JD Sports’ facility at the site, while other tenants include Asda, Eon, Cleland McIver Lifestyle, and Source Bio-Science.
There have been two major lettings this year, totalling 90,000 sq ft, with Nobilia and Gemalto both taking space at the park.
P3 and JLL are the appointed agents for Kingsway Business Park, which is being delivered by a joint venture partnership of Wilson Bowden, Homes England, Rochdale Council, and the Rochdale Development Agency.
