Winsford homes set for approval

Engie Regeneration’s plans to build 140 homes, with a 30% affordable provision, have been recommended for approval by the council next week.

The application proposes a 110,000 sq ft development comprising a mix of two-, three- and four-bedroom semi-detached and detached houses as well as one-bedroom cottage apartments and three-bedroom townhouses.

The proposals state that 42 of the homes will be affordable. Cheshire West and Chester Council’s planning committee is meeting next Tuesday to determine the application.

The ten-acre site is bounded to the north by Deakins Road, the north-east by Smokehall Lane and the south-east by Bostock Road.

An acoustic barrier is proposed along the site’s western and northern boundaries to buffer the development against noise from the West Coast Mainline.

The land subject to development, which was previously home to several light industrial units that have since been demolished, is owned by the council. It is understood that there is a development framework agreement between the council and Engie under which the council has agreed to transfer parts of the land to the applicant.
