Wigan to give green light to Hindley Green expansion

Three industrial units totaling 92,000 sq ft are proposed at the business park.

The plans from Eden Asset Management on behalf of Kite International Investments are tipped for approval when Wigan Council’s planning committee meets next week.

The Hindley Green scheme was up for determination at the November committee but was deferred so that a site visit could take place.

Members have now undertaken that site visit and will meet to determine the application on 16 December. Officers have recommended it for approval despite objections from local residents who consider the proposals to be “inappropriate”.

The sheds would be constructed on underused land within an established business park. The scheme is a response to a “notable upturn in market demand” for this type of space, according to a planning statement prepared by Urban Future.

The largest of the trio of units would be 45,200 sq ft. The other two would be 23,600 sq ft.

Where is it

This site visit isn’t taking place until next Wednesday 17th so if the decision is already made what is the point in local residents using the council policy to object!
