Wharton launches Macclesfield office

Alcester-based ecology and land advisor Wharton Natural Infrastructure Consultants has signalled its expansion into the North West by opening an office in Bollington, near Macclesfield.

The consultancy’s office is in Adelphi Mill, off Grimshaw Lane in Bollington, and will be headed up by director Peter Wharton. The company’s south Manchester business development manager and arboricultural consultant Sam Hobson will be based in Macclesfield full time, while Wharton will split his time between the new office and the company’s headquarters in Alcester.

The Macclesfield office opened on 3 September.

Projects the company is currently working on include the redevelopment of Cheadle College; Upton Heath Primary School near Chester; and schemes in Kidsgrove and Chorley.

The consultancy said it had plans to add more staff in the Macclesfield office in the next year, including ecology and topographical disciplines to the team.

Overall the company employs eight staff, most of which are based in its Alcester headquarters. Clients it has worked with include Mace; Miller Homes; Persimmon; Thames Water; Savills; Barratt Homes; Warwickshire County Council; and Coventry University.
