Welsh housing association plots 131 homes
Cartrefi Conwy wants to build a low-carbon housing estate on 12 acres off Towyn Road in Pensarn.
The housing association purchased the former Inter Leisure Park site from Hibernia Investments in April, in a deal funded mostly by the Welsh government. The site already enjoys outline planning permission for the building of up to 131 homes, which had been secured in 2016.
Now, Cartrefi Conwy has petitioned Conwy Council for an extension on the deadline for when they need to submit a reserved matters application for the site. If successful, the housing association would have until 31 December 2024 to ready its plans.
Those plans are set to include low-carbon, affordable homes with energy efficiencies put into place to help residents to reduce their annual energy costs by 80%.
The properties would be built at Cartrefi Conwy’s modular home factory in Rhyl. The factory is run by Cartrefi Conwy’s in-house building and maintenance contractor, Creating Enterprise. The factory specialises in creating timber-frame homes.
The Towyn Road site is part of Cartrefi Conwy’s goal to build 1,000 energy-efficient homes.
PLPlanning is the planning consultant for the Towyn Road scheme. The reference number for the time extension application is 0/49873 with Conwy Council.
watch out for those sea levels rising!

Sounds like a great development, but can it handle a half metre sea level rise which will happen within the next 20 years?
