Weightmans/Mace & Jones set for The Plaza

Law firms Weightmans and Mace & Jones are now due to take 90,000 sq ft at Bruntwood's The Plaza in Liverpool city centre after it was announced both firms are to merge.

Weightmans, currently based in India Buildings in Liverpool, was rumoured to be taking around 65,000 sq ft at The Plaza at the end of last year.

Weightmans currently occupies part of the ground, first and second floors at the 350,000 sq ft landmark India Buildings on Water Street, while Mace & Jones has an office at Drury House on Water Street in the city.

However, the two law firms announced on Tuesday that they will merge in May to create a firm of 1,000 employees.

Weightmans is in discussions with Bruntwood about taking further space but the final decision is still to be confirmed.

As well as its head office in Liverpool, Weightmans has offices in Manchester, Birmingham, Leicester and London.

Mace & Jones also has offices in Pall Mall Court on King Street in Manchester, and on King Street in Knutsford.

DTZ is the agent for The Plaza and Matthews & Goodman acts on behalf of Weightmans.

All parties declined to comment when contacted by Place.
