Watson lodges Clayton-le-Moors plans

The Salford-based housebuilder wants to redevelop a six-acre site off Whalley Road into 127 homes.

Located close to the Leeds-Liverpool canal in Clayton-le-Woods, the brownfield site is currently occupied by derelict buildings.

Watson Homes’ plans for the plot, submitted to Hyndburn Council, comprise the construction of 53 apartments and 74 houses.

Of these homes, 42 two-, three- and four-bedroom homes would be available for shared ownership.

A further 53 properties would be available for open market rent, while the remaining 32 one- and two-bedroom apartments would be on offer for affordable rent and aimed at over-55s.

TADW Architects is leading on the scheme’s design.

Rob Watson, director at Watson Homes, said: “We are confident that this development will deliver a strong vision for the local community, offering high-quality accommodation and regeneration to the current site.”

Elsewhere in the North West, Watson is aiming to deliver 136 apartments on Green Street in Radcliffe. The project features a 75% provision of shared ownership homes.
