Warrington 80-unit resi block approved
Developer City Centre Projects Holdings has won consent for its 10-storey apartment building on the corner of Mersey Street and Bank Street, known as Bank House.
The 80-unit scheme was approved by Warrington Council’s planning committee this week in line with officers’ recommendations.
Under the proposals, an existing two-storey office block at the site, called Bank House, would be demolished to make way for scheme designed by Falconer Chester Hall architects.
The replacement apartment building would contain 30 one-bedroom flats and an additional 50 with two bedrooms. Around 3,400 sq ft of the ground floor would house commercial units.
Four parking spaces are planned in addition and the developer is seeking to secure residents’ parking within the multistorey car park to the rear of the site.
“The materials palette selected for this development, which includes aluminium cladding, bronze aluminium windows and perforated panels complements the local area, whilst tying the proposed scheme into the newly developed Bridge Street Quarter,” said Mike Gore, director at Falconer Chester Hall.
“This residential development will bring a vibrancy to the area and will hopefully encourage further investment and regeneration.”
Geoff Underhill, managing partner at Abacus Solicitors, which provided legal advice to and spokesperson for CCP Holdings, added: “Warrington is changing rapidly and our project will add to the momentum being built around Time Square and from the council’s wider regeneration plans.
“We’re pleased that the planning committee shared our vision and will now be discussing with housing associations and registered providers how they can participate in the scheme.”
Other consultants on the scheme have included Zerum (planning), Layer Landscapes (landscape architecture) and Evolve Project Consultants.
