Walker Sime expands board to keep pace with growth
Independent quantity surveyor Walker Sime has announced two promotions to its board as it gears up for "significant expansion" in 2008.
The internal promotions will see Katie Green and Martin Bennett become directors, alongside founders Derek Walker and Jon Sime. Terry Dainty was also promoted, to associate director. All three are based at the company's Manchester offices.
Bennett, 38, has been at Walker Sime for three years, and was previously at Gleeds for 13 years, where he worked on major public sector and sport projects including the Commonwealth Games stadium. He will be tasked with leading the company's expansion outside the North West next year.
Green, 34, joined the company in 2001 having spent six years working for a practice in Hertfordshire. She has specialised in both project management and fund monitoring and counts Frogmore Northern, Development Securities and The Co-op Bank among her clients.
Walker Sime has grown rapidly since being set up in Manchester in 2000, with new offices in Liverpool and having secured a number of major new contracts in the Midlands, Manchester and Liverpool, including Development Securities' £32m new office development behind the MEN Arena. The company was also shortlisted at the QS Awards for the category of Best New QS Firm.
Derek Walker said: "These promotions recognise the outstanding contribution made to Walker Sime by all three over the past few years, and also demonstrate our faith in them taking the business to greater heights in 2008 and beyond."
