Vistry advances 405-home Crewe development
The proposals are one part of a wider 850-home scheme in Leighton that is being delivered with Bloor Homes.
Vistry Partnerships has lodged an application to Cheshire East Council for 405 homes near Leighton Hospital. Outline approval for the whole project was granted in 2020.
The developer will deliver the homes across half of the 117-acre strategic site, known as Leighton West and located north-west of Crewe town centre.
Under the proposals, Vistry plans to build 50% of the homes for a housing association or institutional investor, or a combination of both.
The remaining 50% will be sold on the open market by Vistry Group, through its Linden Homes Brand.
Subject to planning approval, work is expected to start before the end of 2023.
Alongside Vistry and Bloor’s new homes, Leighton West will provide a new local commercial centre, with retail and health uses, as well as a primary school.
“Leighton West is a major development that will create a significant number of new, affordable homes, alongside a range of new commercial, retail and educational facilities for the local community,” said Ian Hilliker, managing director of Vistry Partnerships North West.
“The development will also create a significant number of jobs for the local supply chain, boosting economic activity in the area.”
