Virgin eyes Eden for 60,000 sq ft Manchester workspace

The media company is searching for a city centre hub and English Cities Fund’s net-zero scheme is the early favourite, according to market sources.

Virgin denied it was actively looking for space in Manchester when contacted by Place North West, saying “there are no planned amendments to our Manchester office footprint at this time.”

However, numerous sources have confirmed knowledge of a Virgin requirement, believed to be for around 60,000 sq ft, and that CBRE was representing the company.

One source said Virgin was looking “very closely” at ECF’s 115,000 sq ft Eden.

Construction of the New Bailey project, which features what is being billed as Europe’s largest living wall, is underway but won’t complete for another two years.

However, the building’s low-carbon credentials make it one of few schemes coming forward that would meet Virgin’s demands.

If Virgin was to plump for Eden, it would place the company within close proximity to BT, another broadband provider, which will occupy the under-construction Four New Bailey.

In 2019, Virgin relocated staff into a 120,000 sq ft hub at Green Park Business Park. CBRE acted for Virgin on that deal.

I remember some on here saying that the office was dead this time last year. Cant fill them quick enough in GM atm. Have a feeling next year could be a record. Great to see.

The usual suspects will always say things like the office is dead, or the earth is flat or anything that might get them attention. Objective reality is clearly very different!
