Views sought for Royal London House’s 286-home redevelopment
Royal London Asset Management Property has unveiled proposals that would see the legacy office building in Wilmslow redeveloped into a residential scheme, complete with public realm and a lakeside café.
A consultation will run from 1 September to 14 September seeking locals’ views on the plans for the brownfield site off Alderley Road, south of Wilmslow town centre.
Royal London’s plans indicate the properties would be offered as a mix of studio, two-, and three-bedroom built-to-rent apartments, managed under the firm’s asset management arm.
The scheme would be fully electric and emphasise active travel, encouraging and facilitating healthy lifestyles.
Amenities, including a public-facing café, a resident’s gym, and co-working spaces, would also be provided at the site.

In addition to homes, the landscape-led redevelopment would create three shared gardens for the 286 flats.
The Western Garden would feature seating and play spaces, the Central Court would be used as a flexible courtyard for informal gatherings, and the Eastern Garden would offer a relaxing and woodland-inspired space for residents seeking calm.
Architect JTP and Randall Thorp are the scheme’s designers, with AshtonHale leading on planning matters.
A multi-storey car park currently standing at the rear of the site would also be reset to provide electric charging and more space on ground level for the public.
Nearby Fulshaw Hall and Alderley House are part of the wider Royal London estate and Wilmslow campus and will remain in use as offices.

How long has it taken for this site to come forward, the Local Authority should get fully behind this scheme, converting an existing building close to the town centre into hopefully affordable homes.

gotta keep seeking that rent ! I wonder how far we are from this kind of company building worker’s housing again (sorry, executive sustainable accessible living spaces) – they could even offer lower pay for people living in their tied housing.
