VIDEO | Wates’s approach to building schools with Star quality

Wates Construction is just over halfway through the delivery of a 750-pupil secondary school in Little Hulton for Star Academies.

Place North West was shown around the site to learn more about the construction methods being incorporated and the benefits projects such as this can have on local communities.

Also discussed was how Wates and Star collaborate. Both companies agree it is critical to learn lessons from previous projects to perfect processes and ensure that the scheme that is ultimately delivered is of the highest possible standard.

Gavin Davis, operations director at Wates, and David Holland executive director at Star Academies, spoke to Place senior reporter Dan Whelan about the key themes driving the project: collaboration, social value, and levelling up.

“We’ve delivered eight schemes with Wates over the years, so we have very strong relationships with the team,” Holland said.

“We have a good understanding of what we expect from Wates and certainly, when we get to delivery on site, it is like a well-oiled machine.”

You can learn more about the project by watching the video at the top of this article.
