VIDEO | UCLan shows £200m masterplan vision

The University of Central Lancashire has released a CGI flythrough video of how its £200m investment into its Preston campus will look on completion.

Work is already underway with the first phase, the construction of £8.15m social spaces, due to finish in autumn this year.

Another project, the £30m Engineering Innovation Centre, is earmarked for early 2019, while it is anticipated that the New Square and Student Centre will be completed in 2020.

Michael Ahern, chief operating officer at the University, said: “Even though construction work is now underway it can still be difficult to visualise the finished scheme, so it’s exciting to see our fantastic vision brought to life.

“Because this new film is based on detailed architects’ plans, it offers a much more realistic view of what people can expect from our unified, sustainable and welcoming campus of the future.

“We also decided to include a scene at night time, providing a glimpse of the different possibilities for events that will further bring the City and the University together.

“We will continue to work very hard with our partners at Lancashire County Council, Preston City Council and the local community to ensure we create a legacy, which as well as producing a world-class campus, helps to create jobs, kick-starts regeneration and attracts inward investment into the city.”
