VIDEO | Placefirst’s Bolton debut heralds new era for town’s housing market
Deansgate Gardens, a 167-home build-to-rent development, forms part of the council’s vision for a more vibrant town centre and is evidence of that plan coming to fruition.
Now complete, Placefirst’s scheme offers up a mix of townhouses and apartments on a three-acre site in the heart of the town centre.
“Deansgate Gardens is a perfect example of what we can do with very high-quality town centre living,” said Bolton Council Leader Nick Peel.
“With [town centre residential] comes people with cash to spend on the hip, helping the local economy.”
He added that the completion of the project would provide confidence to investors ahead of the next wave of residential development in the town, including schemes such as Church Wharf and the redevelopment of Crompton Place.
On a recent visit to Deansgate Gardens, Place North West spoke to Phil Jones, development director at Placefirst, and Gillian Harrison, associate director at architect Levitt Bernstein, about how the project came about, how it was delivered, and what it brings to Bolton.

Why are they calling it deansgate? There are no historic walks to Bolton.. therefore no gate.. and no old church that had Deans or bishops… Are they alluding to Manchester.. there’s a bit of distance that’s ..far fetched
