Victoria North temporary offices given consent
Following the success of Pollard Yard, Meanwhile Creative will bring its shipping container workspace concept to a vacant 3.4-acre site off Bromley Street in Manchester.
Located within the Victoria North masterplan, the scheme comprises 285 units aimed at providing 46,000 sq ft of affordable workspace to small firms and start-ups.
Meanwhile Creative, the developer behind the scheme, has proved the concept works at Pollard Yard in Ancoats and also has sites in Cardiff and Bristol.
The Bromley Street scheme will be larger than Pollard Yard and has permission to occupy the site for the next three years, following approval of the scheme by Manchester City Council.
Eden Planning advised Meanwhile Creative on the proposals. Marrons is leading on design. To learn more about the scheme search for reference number 138695/FO/2023 on Manchester City Council’s planning portal.
In the longer term, the site is earmarked for redevelopment as part of New Town, one of seven neighbourhoods within the 390-acre Victoria North.
FEC, the developer leading on the delivery of the regeneration project, has been keen to activate vacant sites within the masterplan area prior to their redevelopment.
On an adjoining plot, Social Sports Society lodged plans in March for a nine-court padel complex, while Fairfield Social Club occupies a plot on Irk Street earmarked for a skyscraper.
Ahh, where Collyhurt Police Station used to be!
