Uni seeks architects for library refurbishment

Lancaster University is seeking to appoint architects to provide design consultancy services for the refurbishment of its library located at University House, Bailrigg.

The university said the refurbishment will be undertaken over a four year period with work commencing in early 2012.

Lancaster University wants to remodel the library to create open plan quiet study space, with areas for students to use their laptops and storage for periodicals.

The library currently comprises modular offices and meeting rooms. The university also plans to expand the ground floor of University House.

Lancaster University said contracts will be between £100,000 and £200,000 and the total budget for the project is estimated at £3m a year during the period.

Deadline for submitting tenders is Wednesday 8 June.
