Transdev to manage Nelson bus/rail interchange

Lancashire County Council has appointed French transport giant Transdev to manage Nelson's new £4.5m bus and rail interchange which opens on 6 December.

The interchange provides a covered passenger concourse leading to 10 bus stands, disabled access, direct link to the railway station including a new passenger lift, a travel information centre including new rail ticket sales facility and associated facilities.

The £125,000/year contract covers day-to-day management including safety, security, cleansing and the provision of transport information.

Transdev also operates buses in Pendle and Chorley bus/rail interchange.

The former bus station on New Scotland Road, which is owned by Pendle Rise, will close at on Sunday 7 December.
