Together gets permission for Stockport HQ project

The lender plans to create a 6,700 sq ft link building to connect its two office blocks at Cheadle Royal Business Park.

Designed by Manchester-based 5plus Architects, the upgrade will increase the size of Together’s Cheadle home to 121,000 sq ft.

As well as providing a link between the two blocks, the scheme features break-out areas and meeting spaces, as well as a new executive suite and board room with a terrace.

Stockport Council has approved the proposals, which can be viewed by searching for reference number DC/086850 on the council’s planning portal.

Kevin Fisher, people director at Together, said: “This sustainable development has been designed to bridge the gap between the two buildings, to maximise the use of this space to create improved facilities, a welcoming reception area and a new glazed entrance atrium.

“Our expansion plans will mean our headquarters have the largest footprint on the business park, underlining our commitment to Cheadle Royal, and to providing a modern and accessible workspace for our valued colleagues as we continue to grow our successful business.”

Bracken House Property Group, which owns Together’s Stockport headquarters, submitted proposals for the three-storey infill in October 2022.

More than 750 staff are based at Together’s Cheadle home, which it moved into in 2012.

Eden Planning & Development advised on planning. The project team also featured Hilson Moran, which advised on the thermal efficiency of the project.

Donna Barber, managing director at Eden Planning, said the scheme will “revolutionise” Together’s working environment.

“This addition will offer clients a unique sense of arrival while fostering an enhanced workspace focused on innovation and employee well-being. Emphasising sustainability and forward-thinking design, this development will contribute lasting value to the local area.”

Together provides commercial and personal finance and has a £6bn loan book.

Interesting to see this addition, as the original offices had a glazed walkway/link between the them, however this was removed some years after. Good to see an enhanced offering brought back..
