TK Maxx signs for 460,000 sq ft Crewe shed

The retailer has prevailed in a competitive race to lease the unit, which forms the second phase of PLP’s Basford West employment scheme.

PLP let the 135,000 sq ft first phase of the Crewe scheme to Likewize and now TK Maxx has signed for the 460,000 sq ft second phase that Glencar Construction recently completed.

“Developing such a fantastic building in such a prime and established location, we were always confident in securing an occupier quickly,” said Keith Wilson, development director at PLP.

“Even then, we were surprised by the sheer number of occupiers who expressed interest in the building during construction. However, TK Maxx stood out from the crowd, and we are delighted to welcome them to PLP Crewe.”

Located close to Junction 16 of the M6, the development was brought forward speculatively to meet the demand for big box logistics space in the region.

The unit was constructed in accordance with the UK Green Building Council Carbon Net Zero standard and boasts a range of carbon-reducing features, including more than 10,000 sq ft of roof-mounted solar panels.

The TK Maxx letting is one of the largest in the region in recent years and follows on from PLP securing lettings to Amazon at two units totalling 3m sq ft in the second half of 2022.

Knight Frank advised Peel on the deal.
