This Morning marks 25th birthday with Albert Dock return

This Morning will be broadcast from Liverpool's Albert Dock as the ITV show returns to its birthplace to celebrate its 25th birthday.

The show helped to put the Albert Dock on the map shortly after it was developed by Arrowcroft, which still owns most of the site.

The spotlight will fall on Albert Dock for the special two-hour show on Thursday 3 October, and will feature a live guest appearance from the show's original hosts, husband and wife team Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan.

The pair will join the show's current hosts, Phillip Schofield, Holly Willoughby, Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford, as well as a number of celebrity guests, for a special programme to celebrate its silver anniversary.

The show will see the return of the famous floating weather map especially for the occasion, this time fronted by Keith Lemon rather than Fred Talbot.

This Morning was launched in Liverpool in 1988, broadcasting live from its Albert Dock location for eight years until 1996, when the decision was taken to switch broadcasts to London.

Peter Cronin, director of development and marketing for Albert Dock Liverpool, said: "We are very much looking forward to welcoming Richard and Judy, This Morning and ITV, back to Albert Dock for this very special event.

"People still associate Albert Dock as the original setting for This Morning, so we are delighted that the team has chosen to come back to its roots for this special anniversary show.

"The return of the show is also extra special for us, as this year also marks the 25th anniversary of the resurgence of Albert Dock and the 25th birthday of Tate Liverpool."
