KNOCK, KNOCK… Some people have better doors than others, are you one of them? Cheshire West & Chester Council is asking people to upload pictures of their wooden portals to social media with the hashtag #welcomingdoorsofcheshire in the name of Foster4, the council’s foster care recruitment service. You could win a £500 B&Q voucher if you get your submission in before the end of today, so get snapping!
RE-LEAF… The green-fingered lot at BAM Construction and Royal BAM pulled on their muddiest boots along with a team of 40 volunteers, two schools and a brass band, to plant 500 trees at Boz Park in Bury. The trees were the last of 150,000 that BAM has planted all over the world, and it will definitely make us breathe easier.
SKY HIGH… Liverpool-based M&E consultancy Steven Hunt & Associates completed a skydive to mark the company’s landmark 30th year, and raised almost £8,000 for North West Cancer Research. The team sky-dived 11,000 ft and brought an end to the company’s year of high-octane activities, which also included a 300-mile ‘spinathon’ and the Three Peaks Challenge, all to raise money for charity. Good on you!
FALSE ALARM… Film buffs at Warrington’s newly opened Cineworld were left disgruntled when their viewing pleasure was interrupted by the fire alarm, forcing them to leave their popcorn behind and evacuate. Thursday’s false alarm was the second since the cinema opened its doors at the £142m Time Square regeneration project in December. Cineworld, which is the world’s second largest cinema chain behind AMC Theatres, is investigating the cause. THING promises we aren’t setting off the alarm to get free popcorn…

Old Buildings, New Life is an exhibition exploring how existing buildings can be re-purposed to create a better townscape. Editional Studio has invited architects from across Europe to debate the issue and put forward their ideas.
