The Ivy grows Chester plans
Over the course of three separate applications, Troia Restaurants has outlined its proposals to take over the former All Bar One venue and launch its third North West destination.
Situated on the corner of Newgate Street and Pepper Street, The Ivy in Chester would incorporate a 40-cover al fresco dining area and the brand’s signature stained glass double doors. An illuminated sign with brass elements would broadcast the restaurant to the street.
The outdoor dining area would include a series of fixed jumbo umbrellas with heaters, tables, chairs, a waiter station, and fixed planters.

Floorplans drawn up by Pumphouse Designs include 118 covers on the ground floor of the building, including nine at a wrap-around bar. Pegasus led the submission of the planning applications, which can be found by searching references 26/00089/FUL, 26/00208/FUL, and 26/00209/ADV on Cheshire West and Chester Council’s planning portal.
News broke that The Ivy was opening in Chester last November when a job advertisement for a general manager was published. At that time, the brand had listed its intention to launch in 2026.
The Ivy has two other locations in the North West: one in Manchester’s Spinningfields district and one on Liverpool’s Castle Street.
