The Changing Face and Delivery of Media

Speakers from Google and the Financial Times are among the line-up for an event organised by Place's sister website, How-Do, aimed at people with an interest in digital content and marketing due to take place on Tuesday 1 March.

Five experts will examine and explore the developments relating to their own field of activity and over the course of the afternoon these themes and ideas will be woven together and then conclude with an open question and answer panel session.

The seminar will take place from 2pm to 5pm on Tuesday 1 March at the offices of Barclays Corporate in Spinningfields, central Manchester.

The five speakers are:

Andy Bounds, North of England Correspondent, Financial Times

Danny Gray, Industry Manager, Google

Iain Clasper, Digital/Development Director radio at Bauer Consumer Media

Sarah Hartley, Editor, Guardian Local

James Rice, Regional Sales Director, Sky Media.

Speakers

Andy Bounds, North of England Correspondent, Financial Times

Bounds was appointed the FT's northern correspondent in July 2008 having previously been the paper's EU correspondent in Brussels. He began his career as a reporter for the Kent Messenger newspaper group in 1995. He joined the FT in 1997 as a sub before becoming Central America correspondent based in Panama City.

In 2002 he moved back to the UK to edit the Observer diary column in London and in 2006 he became EU correspondent for trade, agriculture, transport, the environment, health, consumer protection based in Brussels.

Iain Clasper, development director of Bauer Radio

Iain's career has seen him in various primarily sales and operations roles. From sales director of Viking FM and operations/launch director Emap On-Air to managing director of Hallam FM and Juice FM, his current role began with him as development director of Bauer Radio with responsibility for the group's digital activities across its 40-plus stations subsequently added to his portfolio.

Sarah Hartley, Editor, Guardian Local

Guardian Local is a collaborative community journalism initiative currently running across Leeds, Cardiff and Edinburgh. She also blogs about journalism, social media, hyper local news and online communities and has run courses in many of these areas.

Sarah has been an online journalist since 2000 after starting her career in regional newspapers. Before joining the Guardian she was the head of online editorial for MEN Media in Manchester and is a co-founder of the city's Social Media Cafe.

Danny Gray, Industry Manager, Google

Danny manages relationships with network and independent agencies and in particular he focuses on three company propositions: Display, YouTube and Mobile.

He is a native Mancunian who has been working in the online space for over 10 years, starting out with a small creative agency in London to head up their (what was then called) new media business. He's also run his own software company and completed an MBA before joining Google at the EMEA headquarters in Dublin and then spent a year with Google in the US. After one year there, he was offered the opportunity to head up Google's Display business in the North.

James Rice, Regional Sales Director, Sky Media

James has held responsibility for all Sky Media sales outside London for over six years. His growing remit also includes Sky's increasingly diverse digital portfolio and he oversees one of the largest commercial media operations outside London.
