Taylor Wimpey unveils plans for 500 St Helens homes

The housebuilder is progressing plans for a site recently allocated for release from the Green Belt in the council’s newly adopted local plan.

Taylor Wimpey has opened a public consultation on plans to deliver around 500 homes on a 12-acre site south of Gartons Lane.

The site was one of six released from the Green Belt in St Helens Council’s Local Plan, adopted earlier this month.

It is hoped those sites could help the authority deliver 2,114 homes, around 20% of its 10,206-home target between now and 2037.

As well as homes, Taylor Wimpey is planning to deliver public open spaces, landscaping and enhanced access to Sutton Manor Woodland at Gartons Lane.

“We want to deliver a development that will complement the existing local community,” said Ian Harrison, land and planning director at Taylor Wimpey North West.

“With a wide range of houses and open space, we believe that the Gartons Lane neighbourhood will not only contribute to the delivery of much-needed new homes, but will create an attractive, sustainable and long-lasting addition to St Helens, with improved walking and cycling routes to Sutton Manor Woodland.”

I notice that you include access throughout the site for pedestrians and cyclists to the Dream. May I ask what provisions are in place for the extensive horse riding community within the area ?
