Taylor Wimpey lodges 520-home St Helens proposals

The volume housebuilder wants to redevelop a 12-acre site off Gartons Lane, south of the town centre.

Having consulted on the proposals last summer, Taylor Wimpey has now submitted a full planning application to St Helens Council for 520 homes.

As well as a mix of house types, including 150 available on affordable tenures, the scheme will offer public open spaces and improved access to Sutton Manor Woodland, according to the developer.

Ian Harrison, land and planning director at Taylor Wimpey North West, said: “We’ve worked with the local community and St Helens Council to develop our proposals for Gartons Lane and are pleased to have submitted our full planning application.

“With a wide range of houses and open space, we believe that the Gartons Lane neighbourhood will not only contribute to the delivery of much-needed new homes, but will create an attractive, sustainable and long-lasting addition to St Helens, with improved walking and cycling routes to Sutton Manor Woodland.”

The site is allocated for residential development in St Helens Council’s local plan. It was one of six released from the Green Belt when the plan was adopted last year.

🤮 “Mr. and Mrs. Dursley of number four, Privet Drive, were proud to say that they were perfectly normal, thank you very much.”

Unimpressed that Taylor Wimpey claim improved walking and cycling routes to the woodland *right next to the site* although presumably none to the town centre or local amenities.. if you need to go shopping just drive your three cars to the M62…

What’s the planning application reference number please?
