Tameside signs off Audi showroom conversion
A vacant car dealership on Stockport Road in Hyde is all set to be reconfigured into a 4,400 sq ft Sainsbury’s and 8,000 sq ft PureGym, with the council voting to approve the project at its recent planning committee meeting.
PureGym is not specifically named in the planning application from developer Dransfield Properties, however it is widely understood to be the occupier of the fitness unit mentioned in the plans. The gym has also already begun taking on memberships for a soon-to-open 24/7 gym on Stockport Road.
Under the proposals, the PureGym will boast a 4,600 sq ft ground floor with a 3,400 sq ft mezzanine.
Sainsbury’s is mentioned on site layout documents for the 4,400 sq ft retail unit on the site. At that size, the unit would be a Sainsbury’s Local.
Access to the store and gym would be from Stockport Road. The proposals include a 72-space car park, with EV charging points. There would also be a car wash bay and parcel lockers.
Dransfield Properties estimates that its plans will create 40 jobs in the area.
The project team for the scheme includes planner Planning Prospects, transport consultant Hub, lighting designer Lumineux, lighting layout consultant ETS, ecologist SLR, Ward Architecture, and Noise Solutions.
