Swedish bank opens Northern HQ at Manchester Airport

Manchester Airport Developments has signed Swedish bank, Handelsbanken, to take 7,579 sq ft on a 15-year lease at the 4M office building for the bank's new Northern head office.

The bank will join UK Immigration Service, Select Service Partner, Emirates and Excel at the 82,000 sq ft office above the airport's ground transport interchange.

John Atkins, strategy and development director of Manchester Airport Developments, said: "The proximity of the accommodation to the airport was a key factor in their decision to locate here together with the high quality of the building and excellent facilities available including unrivalled transport links throughout the North and the world."

Anders Bouvin, head of Handelsbanken's Northern Regional Bank said: "From our newly established head office at Manchester Airport we are in a better position to be able to support Handelsbanken's growing network of branches in Northern Britain. Looking ahead we see many opportunities for continued growth and Manchester's central location in the region and its superior transport facilities were the main reasons for our choice of location for establishing our new Northern head office."

Will Kennon of joint letting agents CB Richard Ellis said only 7,650 sq ft remained available at 4M and quoting rents were from £22/sq ft.

Regional Property Solutions are the joint letting agents with CBRE. Colliers CRE acted for Handelsbanken.
