Sweco poaches from RSK for landscape architecture offering

Engineering and environmental consultancy Sweco UK has hired three landscape architects from RSK Group, in order to offer the design service from its St Peter’s Square office in Manchester.

Technical director Phillip Black and associates John Meehan and Robin Meade have all joined the company. Black will lead the team, and will work alongside Sweco’s existing landscape team which is based in Leeds and Glasgow.

Alongside the office in St Peter’s Square, Sweco operates a branch from Manchester Airport, and employs 27 people across both locations. Nationally, it employs 800 people.

The landscape architecture team will deliver a full range of services from landscape planning through to masterplanning, detailed design and supervision of project delivery on site.

The existing Sweco landscape team has been involved in projects such as the masterplanning of Greengate, Salford and design of the Talbot Gateway Central Business District in Blackpool.

Commenting on his new role, Black said: “Sweco has a global reputation for being at the forefront of design and engineering, and I am excited to be taking the lead in planning the cities and communities of the future. The landscape architecture team boasts a great deal of talent, and in expanding into Manchester we are well placed to capitalise on the government’s focus on strengthening the cities in the north of England.”
