Styles & Wood reports series of contract wins

The property services and project delivery specialist has secured fit-out and refurbishments contracts worth £23m, including the creation of a 56,000 sq ft office in Manchester’s One St Peter’s Square for Addleshaw Goddard.

The six projects demonstrate the success of the group’s diversification strategy, away from its previously core function of retail fit-outs.

At One St Peter’s Square, Styles & Wood is due to start on a £6.2m commercial fit-out for Addleshaw Goddard, who is due to relocate from Barbirolli Square in 2017. The group’s design and projects business units are delivering the scheme from concept to fit-out, and the contract marks Styles & Wood’s second in the landmark office, following its appointment to fit-out DLA Piper’s suite in 2015.

Last month, Praxis appointed the firm to the £3m, 45,000 sq ft fit-out of Dakota House, a three-storey office building located within Concord Business Park in Wythenshawe.

In the healthcare sector, Styles & Wood is delivering the £3m fit-out and refurbishment of a treatment clinic in Manchester for CARE Fertility, an independent fertility healthcare provider. The project will upgrade the grade two-listed building, to form new clinical and non-clinical areas, as well as carrying out mechanical and electrical installations and other external works to the building façade. The facility remains occupied and in operation, minimising disruption to staff and patients.

The company is also the contractor both two easyHotels being built in Manchester and Liverpool. This latest contract win will see the group deliver the full internal strip-out and refurbishment of the grade two-listed, five-storey building on Dale Street, Manchester, to create 115 hotel rooms, in addition to a modern reception and back of house areas.

In Liverpool, Styles & Wood will carry out the full internal strip-out and refurbishment of a vacant six-storey site on Castle Street, creating a 70-room hotel.

Off the back of Styles & Wood’s appointment to deliver a refurbishment of the 161,000 sq ft Westminster House on Portland Street in Manchester, landlord Aviva Investors has also given the company a 26,000 sq ft refurbishment contract in London, at Irongate House.

Tony Lenehan, chief executive of Styles & Wood, said: “The strength of our design and build offer, and in particular our team’s track record of delivering projects on time and on budget across a range of sectors, has seen us appointed to a number of high-profile developments across the UK. This is a further endorsement of our diversification strategy, which continues to bear fruit and is enabling the business to support clients across industries as diverse as healthcare and hospitality.

“While we are continuing to win work and expand our portfolio in a variety of markets, the commercial fit-out sector also remains an important source of work for the business. The Manchester market in particular has witnessed a surge in activity in recent months, and as demand for premium space remains high, particularly across the North West, we are expecting this is trend to continue.”
